Chic Touches of Cherry Blossoms!

Spring….the time of rebirth and renewal of gorgeous flowers...is here. Finally the warm weather has settle in and I am absolutely celebrating the return of warm breezes and sunlit days….our ravine backyard has started giving us the hint of resuming our love affair with the season. The trees are starting to bud and songbirds are returning back in our ravine. My tulips are breaking the ground and soon will be showing a hint of color. Though, I am a new schooler and learning to graduate with the familiarities of planting, I am determined to embrace my inner florist this season :).
Regardless of that fact that I have a brown thumb and I don’t keep indoor plants thriving…I always appreciate the happy side-effect of having beautiful flowers around the house.  And with the transition in season, huge splashes of spring flowers around the home are a sure-fire way to cheer anyone up. Unlike last year’s tulip touches, this year chic touches of cherry blossoms are spreading the array of beautiful pink around the home. A very thoughtful friend of mine lugged away few stems of these beauties from a park where the park officials were pruning the tree due to heavy rain. Now these short lived flowers are ‘pinkified’ modestly in our humble abode ;).

In our first vignette, pink blossoms have picked up on the brass accents beautifully and they seamlessly blend with the existing hot pink color and décor accessories in our living room. Beautifully cupped here with my brass tea kettle they lend a delicate touch of spring and I am so loving it.
Grouping can be more romantic to add an instant floral fabulousness around you. Graceful bunch of bright blooms are emulating their presence here with copper, silver and brass all together!
Every spring I go ahead and pile on colors in our home with spring accessories, delicate pink here is just blending in effortlessly with all the rest. Especially paired with an equally eye catching vase, these beauties are standing their own with an oriental touch on this setting.
You know me, I drain every last bit of my flowers and they literally go through a process until their survival and that’s why I didn’t have heart to toss away petals also…hence these pretty pink blossom petals are scattered in urli and big brass ice bucket (an impulse buy and a new hunt from an antique craft sale) for Ganeshji and Buddhaji also ;).
Flowers in any season radiate serenity for me. They are naturally welcoming to enhance some freshness in any place. Until my outdoor blooms rest a spell…I am all set indoors to nestle in the company of cherry blossoms after all day’s work. Are you spring ready yet? I do share bite size ideas on Instagram and Facebook, so stay connected peeps and have a wonderful spring time, toodles!

Spring Spin

Spring is taking forever to wake up from hibernation, and resultantly with snow in April and drop in mercury made us fear heading back to winterization instead springify our home. Though, after going through fair share of tough times, we came a long way. Mr. Sun is striking out to fill us in with our much needed dose of sunshine, and birds are crooning back with their soul soothing tweets in our ravine.
Our family room, the hot spot of our family, is all spring ready and humming with spring like warmth indoors. After an enforced seasonal swap of accessories, the room is now breathing new spring life. So, come on in, visit our ever evolving space where our devoted family actions yield with jumping feet and wiggling seats.

With spring fever, my aesthetic sensibilities seem to broaden and deepen. Following the tone of comfort and repose, the room is fairly organized and fairly neat with the appeal of newly done. This year, spring spin is welcomed by softer hues of yellows and greens. Bulky, fluffy pillows and throws are hauled away by propping in these lighter ones in service. Pop of red and orange blends in perfectly with my palette.
Artfully placed vignettes of accessories are steering the room where any talk graciously furthers to my décor when we have company.

This room also shares a close relationship with the natural environment as our bay windows are unadorned in order to foster our ravine backyard pleasure where many mornings are spent before we leave for the whirl of our day’s engagement and evenings find us here as we watch the sun set over.

The ever flowing flow of sun light suits the rhythms and rituals of our activities in this room. And I love how sunshine filtering through those windows infuses the room with luminous glow.

Little glitz and glamour with our "zula Ganesha" is perfectly escorting Tulips to hasten the transition easily on my ottoman, which is pressed in service as a coffee table in the room.

From time to time, I change my perspective by changing and rearranging with the seasonal scheme to blend beautifully with our surroundings. This gentle prod to put a spring in our step will let us easily tackle the happiest times of spring, be it by bonding over a chess game on sunny weekends or flipping through our memorabilia at the dusk. Signing out wishing you all happy spring! Stay connected for more décor sagas on Facebook or Instagram, toodles!

Tulip Touches!

You are familiar with my décor chronicles now, one treat I always have is fresh flowers in my décor. Nothing puts a shine on my face like flowers; their captivating presence spreads a childlike glee within me.  Decorating trends come and go but flowers will always be a hot look to suit any style.

There are quite a few flowers which tick me off but tulips are something I have to add in my décor as soon as I spot them at the florist, they unavoidably land in my shopping cart (of course after lots of struggling to pick the perfect colour)
With warmer days approaching,  image that spring to my mind is only tulip. Let me walk you through some luxe touches of tulips around our home. These carefully constructed vignettes are reflecting the spirit of spring, which seems like a dream after yesterday’s massive snow storm that completely changed the direction of Mother Nature’s idea of transporting spring here. Outside is still chilly and damp but inside everywhere ravishing tulips are brightening up our rooms capturing the ethereal beauty of spring.

My compulsion to add brass in any vignette and fondness of tulip emanates warmth on this eye catching display on my coffee table affirming flower power can never go wrong.

Speeding up spring by infusing tulips in every corner. Along with flowers, personal treasures like this German silver pot links you to a visual story. A proud possession like this brings soul to any room which is very hard to feel or form when you start everything from scratch.

Take a step back and run an eye on what you already own to attire your flowers. Flatter the style by carrying their glow in beyond a standard vase. Let your imagination flow and carry their glow in something unexpected.

Extraordinary blooms like tulips festoon everything with ease on this globally hallmarked vignette. Beautifully compilation of warm and cool colors is cementing in every sense. Corner like this, melts away all our fatigue when we surrender ourselves and catch a breath after hitting the rough day.

Though we are pretty much blanketed in snow for now, so, you can see spring, you can smell spring and you can feel spring phrase seems completely nonviable. For now, I am hugging the possibilities of spring and refocusing my attention on positive moodiness of this post. Hope you all are inspired to bring little spring touches around your space and brighten your home with some tossed in warmth of tulips. Until we meet again, stay connected on Facebook or catch my feeds on Instagram or plug in your email address and subscribe for all future posts, toodles!

P.S. If you are an avid tulip lover like me, you may lead your read right here for more tulip factoids.

Hello April!

Wondering what's on Pink'z radar this month? Weeding out the garden, dusting off the patio, and more of that adventure being closer to Mother Nature with taking spring strolls are already on agenda this month as we usher in long awaited spring life.
Another busy week passed by once brood head off to their routine after spring break and we are still left with a little bit hangover of Holi chaos and all the partying. We neither bound this year’s festivity to our virtual wishes nor let the unfaithful weather of Toronto ruin our day, instead we gambled and we dot on the festival in “Do me a favor, let’s play Holi” style with a very large crowd ;)

On a weather eye, these days, we are crawling out of the bed with chirps and opening windows to the most peaceful sight of our ravine backyard, which definitely is one of the best pleasures we appreciate during this transition of the year. Sun dancing overhead has started creating sun glitters on the distant rolling pond that really reflects the spirit of spring. Quacking stream of ducks and squawking of seagulls echo that spring is finally knocking at our door. Not to forget those wild life guests who make their occasional visit in our backyard making our younger one to storm out himself to get their glimpse. Glad to have our house rooted in nature and sometimes I wonder why I waited so long to get convinced residing so close to nature.

With spring on our way, filling this month's blog dose with few picture heavy colorful posts, reflecting the essence of spring around our home. Along with Tulip touches, a peek in our family room, which is ready to bask in the buttery sunshine, is outlined here on the blog. Moreover, you will encounter with our usual travel tale and a featured product segment.

Pretty soon, Pinkz Passion will be reaching to a new milestone of 100th post and my mind is racing for that one of a kind post to celebrate but don't want to spoil the surprise yet, so, you stay connected to recharge your inspiration engine with a busy lined up posts until 'April showers bring you flowers', till then, stay connected, toodles!

Passage to porch

With sprouting signs of spring, hibernating in home will be over soon and we will be fostering outdoor pleasures where many breezy afternoons will be spend in poring over a book or fancy evenings might find you there as you sip away your sundown smoothies.

At a time of year, my mind races to speed up the spring by hatching new plans for some ideal outdoor projects. Bouncing off few ideas in today’s post for a functional and fashionable front porch to welcome the gradual transition of the season.  After all waking up with sunshine and green things around after surviving looooong winter definitely calls for a celebration.

Easy eye catching hues in bold colours can instantly enhance your outdoors. Adding a hint of bright accessories is another way to upstage your outdoors. Look for unique ways to use familiar accessories in a way that will surprise and delight the palate. Easy to wash and no fade fabric is an apt selection for our active outdoor needs.

A framed sun room with bank of big windows can block intense sun rays. With a good view of lush green trees this minimally decked sheltered porch brings comfort with a style.
Clever accents of orange and cheery pops of blue are incorporated brilliantly here. A side table to hold your drink and a basket to chuck away extra pillows are merged here to maximise the ease while lounging. Slip covered pillows are best to swap away according to your design needs or seasonal styling.

With a space challenged porch, make the most of the space you have. A small sky light here welcomes the view of sky over head. An outdoor rug is always a good choice for adding color in your space; equally a lick of paint on floor can also inevitably brighten the floors. Candles and lanterns are must for me to add drama and romance to the porch.

Be your own mixologist and experiment with your favorite color combo. Blooms always make a big bang in any décor. Window boxes, hanging baskets and pretty flower pots are great addition in your color scheme. Ease into visual interest by adding art work, mirrors or cluster of few frames for an added bonus on the porch.

There are plenty more good reasons to head outdoors which we have been patiently waiting for. Until we meet again, stay connected, toodles!

March Musing!

As I sit comfortably with a brew and my smile, I am so thinking about sweet smell of spring, warm sun and cool natural breeze. When longer days and warmer weather signal a seasonal switch, we know that we are giddily making our way to March. Unlike my many spoiled readers who don’t have to wait for arrival of spring as eager as I do, as they have perks of being in warmer weather throughout the year.
As we ring in spring, tulips have started to take little areas of gorgeousness around my home, which of course, I can’t wait to share with ya’all. My social calendar is also beginning to fill up with a long list of chalked out plans. On the blog, we will capture the essence of spring through few wonderful lined up posts on the blog. Along with spring changes at my end, the admittedly overdue Buddha post will also find its way out.
This month we also celebrate an official leap to a teenager year for our baby, who is in a big hurry to grow up. And here I am, consoling myself by scrolling back to the old baby albums to cherish those childhood moments.
Signing out today, with spring musing in my mind. Trusting my infectiously happy spring mood will help you to kick start your month with an equally happy note. Though, as I am belting out herald of spring, Toronto is declared to be buried deep down under more snow, which I am not looking forward at all.

Until we meet again, stay connected, toodles!

Spring is in the air

Happy Sunday folks, finally Spring is in the air. Toronto was soaked up in wet and muggy shower kind of weather but honestly, the weather has whisked me away, I feel I have rediscover myself after a long hiatus. The first trace of dawn in bed is surprised with whistling and chirping of bird songs outside, a hot cup of my ginger tea is enjoyed with occasional visitors in the pond of my backyard and evening is indulged by trailing off for a long briskly walk breathing in the pleasant air.

Mr. Sun is perking up in little corners of the home and enveloping us in a bear hug. My spring blooms adopt a perfect look in the sunshine adding bonus of enjoying spring.

This little transition has rekindled my love affair with Mother Nature.  Surveying these scenes create a new surge of assurance that warm days are just around the corner after big hangover of wintery days.  I am determined not to mess up with this chance of warm spring weather ahead and enjoy it with my happy-to-be attitude!  Wish you all a very happy week ahead, I know I will have a good one as my weather bug has all double digits Celsius lined up for me :)
Until we meet again, toodles!

Why one, when two can tango!

Punching things back to blogging by welcoming new members on the ride.  Happy Friday passion buddies!

Come to every Friday, I start translating my world at my own pace.   My spirits get uplifted infusing corners of my home with fresh flowers. After a compulsive rush of fetching flowers home, I feel instantaneous need to create something. I have lost count of the number of times I created or arranged this pretty vignettes at home.  Itching with an opportunity to create something different every time with a bit of imagination on the decorating front always calms my day. After a play of couple of possibilities of perfect arranging, today I feel satisfied with my achievement of the grouping of these 2 beauties. Seeking out an unexpected result and sharing it by writing about your passion is a pure pleasure I have felt through this blogging world.

My fondness of flowers and fancies for brass enriches this décor of only two items.  Artfully paired Nritya Ganesha on top of two swan brass diya completely enlivens the space. Trusting my instincts, I bravely housed the spring blooms in an ice bucket. The ice bucket is an antique find from a yard sale which caught my eye while strolling through web ;)

I love being in the company of them on weekends, when I treat myself with a hot brew or a favourite book. Adjusting my eyes to their prettiness makes me feel energized before heading over to challenging piles of chores ahead.

Squeeze in the end of the week by detaching yourself with realities and soak away the worries with your favourite flowers. Get some more of my flower fancy inspiration on Pinkz Passion Pinterest page. See you real soon with a Pooja Room Reveal next on blogging until we meet again, toodles!

Desi Twists on Coffee Table

With the end of kids spring break, time to knuckle down to usual routine for many moms like me. Well, I did muddle through few days of break at work and devoted some extra time being in the hosting mode. My maternal success rate grows straight up in those exacting days when I get surrounded by being mommy dear to my little one with handful of other pre-teens. Few baffling deals of chess, puzzling strikes of carom board and exciting card games along with their compulsive use of consoles tied up their time along with mine making those popcorns and milkshakes.  Little glow of satisfaction on his face fills up tiny splinter of relief in me, being with him.  Though, after playing the gracious hostess, I did steal a dinner + movie date to kick back and tackle the week ahead ;)

Let's dismiss the subject for now, and without further ado, get going to lend some off beat sense of style to our coffee table. Injecting a little magic to a bare canvas sitting in the middle of the room confidently adds wondrous drama. A definite place to impress your guests, with your added touch of flair to spark a conversation.

Perfect bit of foundation for style and organizing on coffee table starts with a tray. Corral the clutter with a decorative tray. It tops up being an impeccable element in my upholstered ottoman. The tray can be easily removed for an essential extra seating in the room or to rest a foot at times when I slink away with  my book.

These dynamic tray duo takes endless rounds on my coffee table being the focal point in my family room with different avatars.

Handcrafted effigy of metal Ganesha placed on flower got his way to our home being a return gift for a wedding in the family. Decked up tulips adds a stylish flourish and inviting drop on this vignette. Playing with the height boosts some extra interests with accent pieces.

Spring is definitely making itself known around my home. Books are added to heighten the balance on my favourite Buddha display. An infectiously serene look on weathered stone Buddha was love at first sight and without me having to ask Aj,  Buddha was packed and ready to come home ;)

Some gorgeous pieces of repeating silver set on my bandhani throw are connecting element in this traditional vignette! Could be a perfect fit for a winter oasis inspiration in home. Pure silver Ganesha was another great hunt of Aj. Along with Ganesha few other additional pieces of silver are studded on the marble top. When radiant rays of sun pay visit to the bank of windows in the room, the bling bling sterling snips away all the fatigue.

A round tray could be a good bet to place minimal pieces. Three is a magic number to stage any object for a visual balance. Here traditional Ganesha gets hipper with modern spring blooms stolen from my daughter's room.

Silver, brass and gold have a way of promptly elevating any space. Real blooms adds an inviting touch on this traditional setting. I find flowers are complementing and easy to work with while creating any kind of look.  To make an impact of collectibles, leave some extra room to rest your eyes. Table mat added that extra pop of the red colour on this setting.

Not much fussy but casual grouping of three with a pop of solid colour favours these modern metal candleholders in this setting.

Working on these alluring settings did not cost me a fortune. I played safe by changing and rearranging things I have had for years to take on a fresh look. You may get lucky to find long forgotten treasures or décor pieces that will get you an exceptional look in your room.

I feel a welcoming vibe every time I enter my family room gussied up with beautiful coffee table arrangements; some sort of cozy feeling of belonging there. Impress your guests or soothe your soul by blending style and casual colour combos with some easy on eyes and interesting pieces on your coffee table. Do share your thoughts or creativities of designing your coffee table, I would love to hear it.

As a result of overflowing thought clouds at my end, many started and scrapped posts are in a pipeline for circulation. Ensure you are connected with me on my passion ride on facebook for more updates and visually pleasing treats of beautiful snapshots from my home until we meet again, toodles!

Happy Sunday!

Sunday evenings, jeez, how I long to last them forever. Oh, hello there, I am back after few days of hiatus. I could finally steal a moment to connect with you all from the hustle and bustle of a busy weekend.  I really had a tough one with the muddle of emotions as my daughter left this weekend for couple of days for her school trip. Being a mom of a teenager going away for 5 full days without us all by herself, I have to be honest, I was concerned. She is the cuckoo in our nest, her presence is loudly felt by the rest of the family members so she will be missed. Despite of my growing unease, I was prepared to let her go. I didn't wanted my strong agitation to cloud her happiness. After all, she has to be ready and empowered to brace whatever life would throw. In her absence, I stole her favourite marble Buddha from her room and set out to our family room to fill her in until her return. Hopefully his "Abhaya Mudra" will help me find my calm that is far eluded me.

On the spring note, despite of all mother nature's misgivings, finally, she is smiling at us with lots of sunshine and warmer days. Frozen winter wonderland with some interrupted paw prints in my backyard pond is now beginning to warm up and coming back to life. Lots of rays of sunshine are melting everything away. I am loving this transitioning to spring with longer days and warmer nights. My tulips are perked up in few corners of my home.

Not escaping the truth, the weekend is almost over but I trust you all have relaxed and gathered up the necessary shots of energy for the week ahead. Signing off with zen like calm until we meet again, toodles!

Celebration of Colours - Holi

I always feel a sudden pang of sadness pricking through my thoughts at the bang of every festival. I am trying to unspool my mind to recollect my childhood memories of the upcoming festival “HOLI”. Being here in Canada for long enough, I feel it's been countless years since I became a part of this celebration now. I try hard to break down the thoughts of my brain remembering my HOLI, but everything inside me just swirls.

For someone who grew up in India, and has "been there, done that" can never forget the fun, the energy, the noise and a joyful battle of crazy friends wanting to colour each other on this fun filled festival. Correct me if you think I am loosing part of my memory, but bustling people on the street, a bizarre scenario and colourful images of my friends’ faces are what I can gather up across my mind.

With few random images floating in the back of my head, I recall gathering up with the neighborhood for lighting up the bonfire on the holi evening:  celebrating victory of good over evil. Traditions related to the festivals vary all over India. If history interests you, find out more about the story of  “HOLIKADAHAN”.

How can we not include the naughty and mischievous Lord Krishna applying colour on her beloved Radha. As an acceptance and popularity of their lovable prank the next day of holi is celebrated as "DHULETI".  A fair game of coloring friends or friend’s friend or even dozens of  strangers. If not dry powdered colours we use ‘PICHKARIS”(water jets) or even managed “WATER BALLOONS” fights. It was essential for you to look messy. If you wish to stay clean, stay home or else get used to looking weird for the day.

Though for me, the best part was at the end, while you’re all scrubbed up after all day’s colourful “masti” and ready for enjoying delicious snacks and sweets made by mom.

To over come the battle of emotions, splashy celebration of joy has found its way to our home, come on in and enjoy the colourful tour of few corners.
Wooden Indian Music Figurnes
Front end is ornamented with spirited red & yellow. The Ganesha paintings complement the grouping of hand painted Indian music figurines. Each figure is playing different music instruments.
Colourful Daisies...nah, Holi Daisies
When I was considering to create the “Holi” effect at home, I had few vibrant colours of floweres in my thoughts but when I reached the grocery store in the quest of flowers, these colourful daisies were shouting out for me. I was completely overjoyed to have found them. I loved how I could incorporate them with my décor, rather they formed the exact lively and radiant touch I wanted for my home.
Accessorize the new look with bright coloured pillow covers.

Couches are accessorized with colourful pillows to make the festival mood more stronger. Also, few bright coloured Ganeshas are reserved in the room to give the colourful effect and complement the festival.

Red and blue my teeny-weeny "Ganeshji", a blessed gift from our very dear friend, sits perfectly on my coffee table to regard and remind the colors.

Green and yellow grouping worked gracefully on my side table.
This "Ganeshji" is another great find of "him" on one of his business trips. Since he is made out of ceramic, one of the arm is broken in the journey but his divine look , his crown, his "mudra" doesn't even remind us that he has been fixed again.
Multi coloured Fireplace mantel

Few bright covered library books and my multi-coloured glasses completed a picture-perfect arrangement of colours on my fireplace mantel.  I was been tempting to use these bright glasses in my décor, but never found any perfect theme to use them but today, I have blended them in my décor with these pretty daisies.

Now being away from all the festivities, we create our own ways to celebrate it. We find joy watching the giggle on our son's face when we share a story of funniest things we did with friends in our history. I have tried to fill that empty hole in my heart with few changes to overcome the grief for not being able to enjoy the festivities. Hope these revamping of colourful corners of our home cheered you and tickled your heart with your childhood memories. Leaving you with the  mist of colourful images until we meet again, toodles.
