Hakuna Matata - I am off to Vacation!

As I sit down to write this post, I am whipping up a storm with whizzing here and whooshing there. In the middle of all this, I am sharing a sheer joy of our travel across the globe to East Africa for this year’s summer vacation. After working our tails off around the clock, we are about to leave all the woes behind to create some memories of life time.

Firmly bitten by travel bug has embark this year's vacation to the place of our dreams. We decided a sentimental journey to revive fond memories of passed by era. (yes, we started our life journey from there)

My family is a travel junkie and always on a quest for a little adventure. The lined up vacation was a necessary leap for rekindling family affairs as we try to inculcate the same to our kids. After all, you don’t get that many other ventures to be a kid again to devote time with them especially when the older one will be sent-off for her new track of campus life.

A real world nature vacation vs fantasy places. Smashing safari with diverse wildlife will positively outrank the Caribbean vacation.  From "Flip flops" to "Toms" and from "Fruity umbrella drinks" to local “Matunda” juice will absolutely be lodged deep in our visual for long. A leap towards some excitement, new discoveries along with few laughs thrown in will be a perfect get away.

Leaving behind few stems of fresh carnation from my coffee table sitting pretty even after couple of days. So, off I go from the home land and of course from the blog land to mount up more memories and bring together more to share for my readers.

In my absence, I have lined up to throw back few old posts from the archive. Miss me while I am gone (go ahead, admit it, you will, I know).

Ensure you are following me on instagram where I will be sharing few snippets of our travel, as and when I get chance. Until we meet again, "Hakuna Matata", enjoy the summer vacation and good warm days, toodles.

DIY planters - Thinking out of the box!

I am definitely not so big on gardening. Being on the blog has stretched up varieties of my interests and artistic skills. Spending life in the part of the coldest city on the sphere, gardening has never heartened me unlike my devoted gardener mom. I have inherited my love for art and décor from her but couldn't considerably catch interest on the road of gardening. Though, I did get my hands dirty in the season by having few beautiful blooms in my small garden. The Homedit sight has accumulated DIY planters from various  social sites which caught my fancy.

Vintage cups with interesting colors to suit your color scheme are fairly good for small plants and small places in the home. Clear glass with some decorative gravel can really give that dull window sills an interesting look.

I loved the complete different organic look of this coffee bag planter. Perfect to enhance the beauty of any place in the garden with a natural feel.

Drilling few wholes patiently will give you this natural, handsome and a movable brick planter, especially for succulents. The narrow roots of the plant will not mind the deficiency of growing space.

Who would think of having plants in a book?  Few old books+ a hole + plastic sheet + a plant = A brand new planter. I must admit it was an impressive one.

Colourful pairs of rubber boots, how cute is that? Flow of inventive and creative thinking help gardeners find plenty of homes for their plants. These hanged rubber boots look adorable with spring blooms on them.

A shower curtain planter, seriously. Pretty ingenuous, what say? A bright colored curtain planter with sophisticated design looks brilliant.

A handmade fancy template and chalkboard paint will transform your old planter into a cohesive one.  With your imaginations you can have fun with drawings or writings. My thought bubble is also visualizing them as cutlery holders; they will look striking on any party table.

All these mind boggling DIY planter ideas were just too silly sides of the coin, and could definitely be a neighbor’s envy. If they caught your interest, visit the site here for more ideas and inspirations. Few craft supplies, DIY spirit and little elbow grease will give varieties of different pots to plants. Have a fantastic week ahead, until we meet again, toodles!

Summer Strokes!

Stroking some bite size ideas on my summer notes today. To undertake my decorative goals for the welcoming season, I try to acquaint with a new colour scheme and the existing pieces to set the style and create little area of cosiness. My mind always has thoughts floating around to shake up seasonal décor for approaching a better look and feel the place in my home.

Mingling with accessories and playing with what I own offers me an abundant preference. The principal factor, in my most decorating projections, is our proud crew of "Ganesha”. I take liberty to coddle in some unique combinations by providing contemporary spin on traditional pieces with the benefit of different Ganesha.

Exhibiting my brass wares for spreading out flowers is a resourceful way for seeking out the unexpected. I mostly incline for grouping of 3 objects to lend the visual power that only one alone would not give.

Rotating cushions is also my way of giving a splash to a space. Bold and deep colour for winter and/or light and airy for spring/summer looks always enticing.

For this season, I have punched bold pop of yellow and mango to build that summer triumph effect in the room. Custom-made cushions from Bristi lend a hand to complete that summer arrival in my niche.

My family tour will mention my affection of cushions and how every so often I change them. Of course, I don`t have that many cushions, I have all those different cushion covers which are always welcomed in the room according to my frame of mind and décor swings. Besides, they are quite easy to wash and put up when not in need. My linen closet is packed with those dressy, casual, colourful or neutral shades of covers.

Face lifting the fire place mantel from season to season is also on my evolving décor mantra. Stirring things around can make the same room feel so fresh.

Mr. Sun`s sweltering summer rays in my family room add the last touches on my vignette.

When I survey the scene after smoothening out every wrinkle, straightening pile of books, mist with linen spray or lit a candle to pleasantly hazy the room, I honestly get seduced every time I enter the place.

Rediscover your style with a little of this and a  little of that to open up a stream of variety in your decorating styles. Turn those under the eaves corner into justifiably known one. Be undaunted in your approach and you will succeed. Till we meet again, toodles!

Bristi - (Featured Brand)

Sinuously threaded cheerful mix of antique and modern pieces and a play on texture and colour with fanciful touches is what today’s post has to offer you all. Probably you pictured the post, which was destined to be out earlier but some action packed days held it back. Delve deep with me to discover some rare, quirky and an unrivaled pieces of accessories from a new designer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat-Bristi!

When we started browsing furniture pieces for our new home, I, being one determined soul for perfect colors, harbored myriad of desire to get that complete look in our family room. Our search ended up with couches out of the world and perfect for our taste, desire and style but had to manage with oh so old school cushions. Scooting itch to change them kept on striking me. My approach to fancy higher end stores didn’t maximize the sight line for my quest on cushions. When I stumbled upon her page by a reference of a friend, her appetizing designs stole my heart with fabulous, livable and unique pieces.

A fashion designer graduate from the Premier Fashion Institute in India-NIFT, Barsha Dutta is a creative head behind Bristi, who has offered her no fail decorating short cut by her pleasing and unified design style of accessories.

A gratified lady who swept away two awards for her collection marks in her own words about how she pompously incorporated her entry in the breed of designers, " This all started as we could not find cushion covers that would liven up our home, also that was produced in mass, and was available everywhere and not unique."

My personal favorites are these pleasing and unified designed cushions. They are tailored enough to work well with any neutral background. Wouldn't you agree that she has turned her considerable skills to punch some stylish edge to an otherwise ordinary sofas. Barsha marries each of her schemes to a particular taste and desired appeals of her clients. Her talent and a designer's charm sets some nostalgic mood in a modern living/family room of many of her clients including me.

The squash yellow cushions like above with personalized texting term are Barsha's specialty. Barsha declares with an underlying pride, "I have been with the designing field designing with NGO's and govt organization, later on joined as a visual merchandiser with future group  and then finally started my own little workshop where we designed handcrafted products like cushion covers, bags...etc. "

Propelled by the motto to create the piece only once just for her clients, she proudly claims, "We realize that each home has a different story to say about the people who made the house a home, and so to reflect the personality of the people living in the homes, we decided to go in for customization and create designs that spoke about them. We take care not to duplicate or replicate the designs for any one else's home so that the designs are unique and special." I love this concept of Bristi, the exclusiveness of cushions being made just for you to reflect what you love may evoke your innate flair for some signature collection in your home.

I was gravitated by her ingenious design plays with prized heirloom vintage sarees. Old styles usually elude when you introduce new pieces of décor, but such stylish treatment with traditional treasured pieces not only contribute their charm but reflect memories of a personal family collection as a focal point in the room.

In conjunction with cushions, Barsha also masters in refreshingly unique, quirky, and unusual accessories to add some strikingly stylish personality. Her talent and a real girl charm stimulates some attractively tempting bags, batwas and toys to grace your any occasion. These accessories can be personalized as per your requirement and necessity. These products are great as return gifts for bridal showers, weddings, or baby showers. Her eclectic collection delivers selections to match your palate and flair.

A woman with a vision addresses that in future, Bristi plans to design and print own fabrics that can add on to the uniqueness to your décor.

The mission statement of Bristi echoes her sentiments, "With the money earned , we give a part of it away to the needy, as the smile on their face, help us to design even better handcrafted products and there is a certain satisfaction to it."

Next time when you hit the search of cushions or accessories, be positive and remember that Bristi lies ahead to create a visual success from that stake to striking look.  Bristi will proudly interpret your dream design and translate them lavishly into reality.
