Parking ourselves today at the doors of “On the House” B&B homestay in Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi, a tastefully decorated place where there is no fear, only confidence.  Aradhna Lanba, an entrepreneur who had dipped her hands in travel and hospitality, meticulously designed this home stay, where practical requirements of luxury hotels are well served with an ambience to woo away your fatigue.  

Surrounded by a hodgepodge of art on every wall, curated antique furniture and concentrated collection of objects make this glitzy living room a visual and sensual delight.

Dinning Area


Taste a bit of razzle-dazzle along with your breakfast in the dining area.  The touch of soft lilac purple color adds the character in this “Fairy Tale” room, making the space more inviting. By grouping assortment of plates on the wall, the dining place has been brought to life.

Gulmohar Room

Aradhna didn't stay locked in one style, instead she embraced diversity by creating all different bedrooms layering multiple styles. The very first thing you react in this room is the scarlet color. By adding a bit of sparkle and shine this aptly titled “Gulmohar Room” channels a “Maharaja” vibe.

Oak Room

Catch up a long day in the warmth of calmness in this “oak room”, where soft background with warm neutral color struck a balance by using olive green accent wall. The room is blended old world style with modern looks keeping most of the furniture marginal so that surrounding art work and accessories stand out.

Cedar Room

The baby pink on this femininely designed “cedar room” denotes fantasy. The fuss free setting sets the tone of comfort and repose to soothe tired travelers.


Terrace Garden

Wouldn’t mind to snack and chat on this terrace garden. Richly layered with colorful flowers and garden accessories, the place is perfect for solo brainstorming or group gossiping. One could easily trade the turmoil of their urban life on this peaceful terrace.  

A lady with discerning eye embarked on a project with a motto and the results are pleasing beyond measure. “On the house” is fashioned by combining elegance, ethos and era that reflects the style and taste of Aradhna. Lakshman Sagar - A boutique Hotel

As I stay afloat in the midst of spring arrival, one look at Lakshman Sagar is all it takes to be carried away. Get on board with me to tour this quirkiest place bathed in sporadic splashes of color and charmed with old world touches.

 

Feeling of having stepped in another era has been remarkably created using the “ZERO KILOMETRE DESIGN” concept by Sahil and Sarthak Interiors, where all the furniture and accessories are inspired through an understanding of local products and conveniences in this eco-friendly luxury.  Rajasthan, being a craft weighty religion the design inspiration is laid down with an ease. You will be nodding in full agreement with my statement, once you explore this place with me :)

Lakshman Sagar, an environmentally friendly luxury by Sewara group, is excelled by exquisitely ethnic interiors. Scattered on over 32 acres of picturesque village in Raipur, Pali district, Rajasthan Lakshman Sagar is adjacent to Lakshman Sagar lake where centuries old Marwad traditions and eras of time gone by is encapsulated brilliantly.  

Lakshman Sagar’s décor approach thrives with an abundance of accessories easily found in the village. The side table here (a “matka”(pot) with few dry hays set on a few wooden branches) is the best example that strikes out the rural living in this mud stamped room.

Psychedelic and bright sitting arrangement is effortlessly mixed by scattering glimpses of local culture and locally found accessories such as terra-cotta pots, brass-copper utensils and hand embroidered cushions.

Zanana (female) and Mardana (male) mahals are detached on this property, which harks back the old times of “Thakurs” where they used to retire and entertain themselves after a busy hunting day in woods. Thakur Lakshman Singh, who possessed the place as a hunting lodge, is now converted into a eco-friendly heritage hotel Lakshman Sagar, which still recaps the know-how of rural life and old world charm. Windy white and blue dining space in Mardana (male) place is dotted with many zarokhas (arches) for overlooking beautiful surroundings of Lakshman Sagar. 

“Farm to fork” principal is applied when you savour yourself in Rajasthani cuisine here in “zanana” (female) dining room which is sprinkled with mild pink theme. Every prepared meal is cooked from freshly home grown spices to home grown vegetables in the village.

Now, who wouldn't want to unwind with a book and a big glass of freshly churned "lassi" to cool down on this beautiful terrace, where the good view is a real plus.

A fairy tale castle (Mihir Garh - A boutique hotel)

Embark on a journey with me, today we are heading to another signature boutique hotel, Mihir Garh, a place where holiday, escapism and nostalgia go hand in hand.

Mihir Garh, is a motivated and designed brainchild of a couple Sidharth Singh and his wife Rashmi. The duo uplifted their vision and expression of their individuality, all united by an attention to detail extravagant fortress hotel near Jodhppur, Rajasthan, India. With a desire to share this heaven on earth, a sophisticated sand castle rising in the  middle of the dessert was built with attentive and carefully chosen interiors by Rashmi. 

Cut out arches or "zarokhas" are windowed in different walls through out the property, giving them a royal and stylish touch or gadh.

Zarokhas in this area, with clever touches of red in traditional seating is richly layered.

 

Most marvelous shade of aqua blue is my absolute favorite. Here also the same blue with rich and sumptuous peacock painting are adorning another mud wall with "zarokhas", balanced by repeating the same intensity of peacock blue color in cushions as well.

Collection of stand out brass pieces are grouped on the coffee table and are also scattered around the room for classic and timeless ambience evoking the very much styles of "Maharajas".

 

Design and décor is done meticulously  by the owner Rashmi, customizing every detail. Jewel-toned fabrics and even the jewel toned mudded fireplace not only cheer the craftsmanship of the local artisan but also add a focal point in the room. With few collective brass concentrated on the table and side table increases the over all visual impact.

Garh with only 9 private suits and each room is a total chill out zone belting out the stories of craftsmanship of local artists, decorators, carpenters, masons. Each room is with private plunge pool and a terrace.

Pearl Palace..boutique hotel tour

The magnetic pink city Jaipur is known for its bounteous allure and hospitality. Laying today in front of you, an exciting journey of one such luxury brand boutique hotel in Jaipur, dripping with true desi details. An extravagantly designed vibrant rooms of Pearl Palace Heritage Hotel in Jaipur will catapult you glancing at the beauty and perfection of the décor. Each room is transformed with an entwined story of Indian heritage by exercising mixing modern and traditional. Without a moment of hesitation, I knew I had to share this with my keen readers.

Nirvana Suite

The very Nirvana Suite was a sure fire sign to take you on a compulsive tour of this boutique hotel. These adorning spiritual and multi-coloured effigies paying a tribute to Buddha here. The appearance of the room is extremely influenced by “Ladakh” and the devotees of Buddhism residing there and in the surrounding region practising the religion since last 15 centuries. 

Kutch Room

The Kutch Room evokes a sense of being in the village of Kutch in Gujarat.  Earthy materials like bamboo, clay and timbre completes the backdrop of this bhunga (a traditional circular house in Kutch, Gujarat) imitated room. Mirror studded wall conveys the perfect traditional character in the room.

Indus Suite

The warli folk painting throughout the Indus Suite serves as an ethnic ambience of Northern Maharashtra and also an envy of any Warli painting lover like me. The traditional art captures the real essence of folktales and traditional stories of life and social occasions. The uniquenss of the paintings lie in the fact that it’s done on a mud wall using single color only.

Nilamber Suite

The delicately intricate pieces of mirror express the sheer serenity of this Nilamber Suite. Crisp blue background by the bed and ceiling is a form of glass medley work. To give the utmost experience of this mosaic work to dwellers, a crew of professional artisans were invited from Udaipur. 

Madhubani Room

Drooling over the Madhubani atmosphere, here, which is meant to exhibit the mystical presence of Indian style paintings and the essence of the authenticity.  Each and every detail painting depicts the occasion and festival. The well-appointed family of artisans completed the work to accentuate the charm.

 

The travel bug inside me is in his high spirits after taking you on the tour now and tempting me to cherish the day by waking up in one of such serene rooms, I wouldn’t mind, would you?
