Celebrating November and My Second Blogoversary

730 days….yes, approximately 730 days ago, Pinkz Passion was born. The fact is, this passion page was started on a whim in the middle of one sleepless night and two years and nearly 135 posts, I am still here and my, how much we’ve grown. My décor chronicles have led me to somewhere much better than I could have dream for. I am in a happy place where life tastes different, a little sweeter with all of you :). Opportunities find their way, when you unfailingly work hard in the area you are passionate about. Looking back after two years, I am constantly amazed that this is something I created and grew out of my passion.
Though, none of this would have been possible without you all. I can’t drop the opportunity to thank all of you for reading my blogs, commenting on my posts, fanning me on Facebook and following me on Instagram and all the other many ways in which you lovely peeps have backed up on me. And it still really jazzes me, when readers go out of their way to touch base with me and let me know that my blog has inspired them to look at their home décor chronicles in a different manner, especially with my timeless brass collection. My brass fondness has set a new trend in the décor stories of my readers and few close friends who have started their own collection. It truly warms my heart when readers sent in their pictures when they uplift corners of their home inspired by my posts, it makes me feel I have been invited to their home. I truly hope this little blog of mine can be a source of inspiration and do its best to help you look at your home décor stories in a different aspect.
I must confess that, few motivating pundits of blog industry have been the silent force in shaping up my blog. Stirred from their style, I often feed myself from their inspiration and motivation. After all, that is what blogging is about….get inspired and be inspired.
As we move forward to the month of November, we have a beautiful home tour lined up next which has been bottled-up due to Diwali posts. Also a post of moods of my entrance (sitting in a draft for a while now) has been overlooked but will try to pull it back and publish it in November.

However, after November I am planning a digital time out and hoping to pull the plug from blogging for a while and restore my serenity as I have travel plans to meet and mingle family and friends. Will share a final post of the year sometime later but until we meet again, stay connected, toodles!

Gifted Ganesha collection!

As I write this absorbing all my energy, cannot stop thinking about faces with all smiles, spilling energy on the roads, and madness on the street welcoming Ganpati Bappa back home. Where all the festivities are zaniest best, and ‘Bappa’, with his gentle candid smile, standing in front of storm fan, ready  to be coddled for 10 days composed of worship, devotion and love. Alas, no matter how low our heart sunk thinking about the laudable festivities in India, we have upped the ante here by making our small eco-friendly ‘Ganesha’ at home for the festivities.

Our penchant for ‘Ganesha’ collection is well known not only for my blog readers but also to our friends and family. Knowing our special bond with this plumpy fella, our friends or family don’t have to stretch their thinking for any gift or souvenir to bring in our home…Ganeshji finds its way to our home inevitably. And these little gestures of overflowing gifts have turned our collection into unforgettable memories.

To honour our memories, unlike last year's brass galorethis 'Ganesh Chaturthi', I have summed up few portraits of these ‘Gifted' Ganeshas.

The very first in the series is our Parijata yellow jade Ganesha in 18k gold polish, who came home from all the way Jaipur, India. Taking the center stage on our coffee table, he is placed here on a German silver plate (a family treasure piece) with floating flower petals and candles
Next two pieces are from polyresin material. Even though, both are intricately moulded from the same material they both beg to differ with their posture and gesture. Prudently used bright colors adds the attraction on our 'Paghdi Bappa' and the warm glow from votive candle holders enhances the captivating charm.
Another ‘prized’ piece with minimalist colour tone, is mixed here with my brass. Editing and styling these pieces instead of cluttering them taking space in a corner, encourages long conversations when we have company.

A vibrant Ganesha hugging Shiva lingam and holding Parvathi on one hand came home as a return gift on a house warming ceremony. These nostalgia wrapped pieces bring back many memories when they occasionally land on my coffee table.  When not in use, these pieces can be found in our temple room which is overlaid with such other gifted Ganeshas.

With our Golden Ganesha all the way from Sri Lanka, I took some outdoor styling freedom in the company of fall mums. My husband, who is busy circling around the globe, often comes home with gifts of such wonderful pieces which add elements of history in our collection.
This divine marble Ganesha sitting on bajoth (Chawki) with studded kundan work is my personal favorite. You know I had to bring in the brass for my styling ;), so here is the smallest piece of our collection paired with my glimmering brass. He is a gift from one of my loving friend who doesn’t leave a chance in adding pieces in our collection whenever she comes across any new piece in the town :).
The very same friend, who also fetched this ‘Nau Dhan’ (nine grains) Ganesha, to make sure I have a company in the kitchen.  Now he has been placed where he can watch over me as I cook away storm in the kitchen. Lord Ganesha here is hand moulded with 9 different types of pulse and grain by artisans of South India.
Lastly, the very latest Ganesha from one of my husband’s colleague from India is concentrated here together with other yellow- green accessories. The quirky candle holder is also a gift we recently added in our collection from Mumbai.

I hope you equally enjoyed walking with me through the fields of memory as much as I enjoyed pitching in new ideas for styling few of the our buried down treasured collection.

Wrapping up today's post sending our warmest wishes to you and your family on this festive season of 'Ganesh Chaturthi'. Until we meet again, toodles!

With July, it's officially summer!

Much awaited time of the year is here. Summer delivers oxygen to our frozen souls; hence we wrap our arms around every possibility to enjoy it.

Charming jumble of yellows and green for summer on my coffee table

Summer for us, is all about spending healthy dose of family time as we notice the veil of childhood innocence is lifting recklessly with our younger fella whom we have babied so much. Priorities have shifted rapidly from blowing bubbles to skateboard stunts, from long bicycle circles to roller blades and playing catch to kicking hard soccer. With a streak of silver in our mane, this mother is dishing out you a sage advice to plan ample of family time together this summer; be it a drive through movie under the star lit sky, or all day picnic with gossiping gaggle or camping in evergreen vistas near lake water lazing on Muskoka chairs while roasting marshmallows at night….list to do can go on and on, pick your favorite and sprawl out more to enjoy.

Though, at the moment, my mind has started to think and get the ball rolling on new decorating adventures of the ongoing work at home front. Our basement is shaping up where all our family movie nights and hosting-entertaining of the crowd will be offered.  Along with basement, we have taken a leap closer to Mother Nature by building a patio where cocktails will be sipped overlooking the pond in our ravine and where I might plop down with pile of books in sunshine. Big plans, huh? Well, summer is all about outdoor fun for us Canadian to soak up some vitamin D to survive for the rest of the cold months ;).

We do have few inspiring posts this month including something shiny and glamorous..no..no..it’s not brass, I tried my hands on copper for a change and loving the results. Queuing up also a wonderful tour of boutique bed and breakfast place that will make you weak in your knees. So, I shall see you around until than wishing you all a wonderful summer, toodles!

100th Post Special!

Today, we celebrate significant milestone of 100th post of Pinkz Passion which seemed nearly impossible when I started to cut and paste my dream of diving into the ocean of design experience and décor mantras through my blog. Shuttling between my buffering thoughts, and sheltered existence, my blog kept building on the idea of nursing my passion of love and décor. However, it was not always sunshine and rainbows, but I just started following what I loved and everything seem coming together. Crossing the path with same minded friends, who sprinkled much love and response, strengthen the intuition and hence here I am, pushing the boat out for the 100th post on the blog :).

As we mark 100th post and Mother’s Day the same week, I want to celebrate by raising a toast to the platoon of women, mothers and bloggers who has had and still holds the charmed title of “blog guru” in my eyes and they are my absolute favorite boldfaces of blog fraternity. For no specific reasons, they all tie at the top of my blogger’s list.
  My Home
The mutual thread of traditional style, that I personally favour, is binding all of my favourites together. Sit back, relax and savour the cocktail of MY favorite bloggers and their equally creative homes, which not only characterizes their style minded personalities but also prompt their creativity. Most of the names you will recognize as they are the leading bloggers in the crowded world of Indian décor blogging.

A blog and a home with a perfect fusion and function of globally-desi style. Shruthi’s true labour of love, her blog, is still making décor headlines. TECD's stars, are on rise by working steadily, who recently made Shruthi bag away "Facebook Decorista "of the year award under her belt. Shruthi's unique ideas and creative flair have shined a lantern on my path strongly and she still continues to impress next wave of new décor bloggers, where she is serving global design inspiration via confident mix of her heirloom pieces and cheering diverse home tours of real homes.
Rich details, on Anu's MDC, have inspired many like me, where I spent hours repeatedly gazing on her posts and leave with a deep impression on every visit. Anu's home is a great mix of style that is flexible and continuously evolving. I love how glorious little touches of antiques are updated in her home successfully with contemporary details. Anu’s online boutique, with plethora of global décor goodies, has won many tasteful and traditional collectors' heart.
S&S is where fashion fanatic, Jayashree, a lady with a beaming megawatt smile, passionately pours her heart and eye on fashion, art and travel via her blog. Never short of admirers, has Jayashree put forward her glamorous side in her home with explosion of wit and confidence. An art-savvy, whose love for 'Madhubani' runs deep, has also opened an outlet of teaching the art, where her creativity is being shared with other like minded souls. Each and every blog of hers, where she plants her thoughts into beautiful words, is very well received .

I love the way; Aalayam has laced ethnic simplicity via their blog. If you are a cultural decor buff, there is a fat chance of you falling in love with Aalayam, which executes traditional aspects deeply. In the midst of all the twists and turns of life, with their acts of creativity, they have set an example of possibility and passion. Aalayam blog, flavoured with Indianity, is breathing on heaps of praise and love of their readers.

It is Archana’s profound desire to inspire others made her find her true calling (another “Rang” of her life) as young as in 2007. Rang decor blog is an extension of her creative soul, centred on one shared mission of serving others. I love the way, her home is dotted with fanciful and unexpected traditional touches. Archana, who has essayed the weighty role as a blogger, also embraces a title of chai aficionado, a powerful photographer and now entrenched more deeply in her creative persona by launching the brand of “Archana Srinivas Pottery” recently.

So, these are the blog pundits, who have top the bill in my book of women, where I look up to feed inspiration and motivation repeatedly. Their arresting, simple, and practically “desi” articles capture zeitgeist of home décor. However, reading these prolific bloggers might lead you to loose several hours of your life, which I assure, will be a pure joy and delight on every visit.
This honorary 100th post in salutation of these intelligent bloggers would not have been completed without an emphatic positive response from all of the above. Thank you all of you for making this honest and no extra sugar coated post happen :).

As we wind up today's post, signing out by wishing you all a very Happy Mother’s Day to enjoy with that extra little pampering and extra little cuddling! Until we meet again, stay connected on Pinkz Passion's facebook page or Instagram feed, toodles!
